GBH provides employees with a staff development program, which begins at the time of hire and continues throughout employment.  It is the policy of GBH that all staff will receive regular staff development based on assessed needs identified by Quality Assurance Activities and in-service needs assessments. Included will be formal and informal educational experience related to orientation, clinical skills, leadership and management, and other appropriate content areas.

Our annual reorientation will include a review of the following areas:

  2. Restraint and Seclusion Demonstration and Competency for Hospital Employees

  3. Employee Handbook Review

  4. Job Description Review

  5. General Hospital Orientation and Competency, which includes the following:

  1. Hospital Organization

  2. Human Resources

  3. Corporate Compliance

  4. Confidentiality/Health Information Management.


  6. Fire/Safety/OSHA/Emergency & Risk Management.

  7. Patient Rights.

  8. Restraint/Seclusions

  9. Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement.

  10. LOPA

  11. Infection Control/Employee Health

  12. Utilization Review

5. Second Injury Fund Questionnaire, needed to be completed annually per LWCC

The General Hospital Orientation Competency Test needs to be completed by the date mentioned in the e-mail sent by HR. 

Materials to Review for Testing

A review of the items completed above will take place as a group on a scheduled date. The date will be announced by your supervisor and attendance is a requirement. Documents 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 need to be completed and turned in prior to the beginning of the orientation meeting. The results for the competency test will be reviewed with all during the scheduled meeting.
